NEW! Reviews for The Marked

“I loved Dancia and Delcroix Academy in The Candidates, and I loved them even more in The Marked…New, thrilling, and unexpected twists kept me on my toes and glued to the pages.”
Kate (VerbVixen), http://verbvixen.tumblr.com
“I loved the extended struggle between what is truly right and wrong. The questions of control and manipulation, of evil cloaked in good, of meglomania and power are riveting… Dancia is reckless at times but her moral compass is nearly infallible. Her force of will and eagerness to jump in a fight to protect those she loves makes her one of my favorite heroines. ”

“Dancia is turning into a remarkable young woman who is going to lay the smack down on the bad guy. . . if only she can figure out who the bad guy really is. ”
Reviews for The Talents (The Candidates)
Kirkus Review
“….Dancia, who is street smart rather than book smart, leads a tightly written, intriguing mystery. Delcroix’s complexities will keep readers guessing as to its real mission, and the romance between Dancia and Cam, a junior who is watching out for her well-being, adds to her story and serves to show the depth of Delcroix’s secrets and influence. A promising beginning.”
School Library Journal
“…the plot is quick and gratifying, and Dancia is much more empowered than the female protagonists in some other popular supernatural thrillers.””
Lynda Sandoval, author of Who’s Your Daddy, and its follow up, Father Knows Best
“Take one part Gossip Girls, one part Harry Potter, mix with two parts top-notch storytelling, and you’ve created the next big thing: Inara Scott’s “Delcroix Academy” series, beginning with her page-turning debut, “The Candidates.” Scott has mastered the art of the slow reveal, and I couldn’t stop reading until I learned all the secrets of Delcroix Academy. Vampires, be gone! I can’t wait to see this series on the big screen..”
Lauren Baratz-Logsted, author of Crazy Beautiful and The Education of Bet
“Readers, strap yourselves in for action, intrigue and a dash of romance as you enter Delcroix, the latest must-read academy series – Inara Scott has penned a winner!”
Diana Peterfreund, author of Rampant and Ascendant
“A potent blend of superpowers, friendships, and boarding-school intrigue makes Delcroix Academy a delightful debut. I can’t wait for the next installment.”

“As a mother of an 11 year old daughter, I really appreciate that the book looks and feels like a young adult book, but that it is still okay for my tween daughter to read– it’s sometimes hard to find books for this in-between age. Another great thing about THE CANDIDATES, which is near and dear to my heart, is that it would make a fun selection for tween/teen book clubs as well as mother daughter groups. There are a lot of interesting (and important) topics to discuss including dating/romance, cliques, mean girls, and other typical growing up issues — which will definitely appeal to teens. And, there are also some more general issues like responsibility, trust, family dynamics, choices, change, right vs. wrong, etc. that also warrant some further discussion.”

“The Candidates… let’s see if I can properly explain how much this novel rocked my socks. From the very first page, I was on a roller coaster. Everything about this novel screams originality and freshness. Yes, it is about superpowers. And yes, they are in a school environment. But none of that matters because Scott presents in a way that is so refreshing. A way that will make you not want to put this book down. Literally.”

“Delcroix Academy: The Candidates was an immensely enjoyable read; with quite a bit of action and mystery I honestly never felt the need to put the book down. Inara Scott has set the stage for a fantastic new Young Adult series and I can hardly wait for the second in the series….I’m eager to see where Danica, Cam and Jack all end up and how she will decide where it is she truly belongs. A brilliant beginning to a great new series!”

“I like how different it is than other books I’ve recently read. It is a fresh take on the paranormal/boarding school theme….I had trouble putting this one down because I was eager to discover the meaning behind the title. I wasn’t disappointed and can’t wait for more….I’d consider this a very clean read. Language and content would be safe for even the youngest teen. I can see it appealing to both guys and girls. This is a series I’ll continue without a doubt, and share with my 5th grader.”

“I love the tension, the discussion about the gate, and the friendship between Jack and Danica. I loved the secrecy surrounding the school and the supernatural powers of Danica….I can’t wait to see where this series will go next. ”

“I loved this book – great concept, great writing, great characters. You get pulled in from the first word and are sorry to put the book down when the last page turns. I hope Ms. Scott keeps up the wonderful work!!”

“Inara Scott delivers an exciting story of mystery and fantasy, with healthy doses of romance thrown in – my favorite kind of story. This is a well-written escapade into the life of a gifted teenage girl who does a lot of growing up in a short period of time. There’s no gratuitous sex or violence in the book so it’s a good read for any age. Pick up Book One in the Delcroix Academy series – you’re sure to be hooked.”

“This book will definitely keep you turning pages and have you imagining you really are at Delcroix Academy….Now if only next August would hurry up and get here for next book in the Delcroix Academy series!”
Jenny, www.foreveryoungadult.com
“ This debut from Inara Scott was one of the most enjoyable reads I’ve had in a long while.…This book comes out August 24th 2010, so after your post-Mocking Jay crash, when you feel empty inside, and wander around your house calling for Katniss or Peeta or Gale, I recommend putting down your bow and arrow, refilling your glass, and picking up this little gem.”

“I loved this book so much. This one hasn’t even been released yet and I am wishing the next installment would hurry and release as well!”
Lyra Rose, www.lyraroses.blogspot.com
“Dancia is a great character who you can’t help but feel for. And the supporting characters are brilliant…There is so much going on that you won’t want to put this book down once you start reading it. I truly love this book and can’t wait to read the next one in the series.”
Jenn S., www.book-crazy.com
“I want to scream at someone, curse at the top of my lungs…saying is that really it, for now at least? How can that be? The Candidates was so good, so refreshing, so new – with a twist on the “old” prep school story, Inara Scott has taken us light years ahead, she’s painted a picture so clearly in my head, I can see it, taste it, smell it, and I wanted to dive into Dancia’s world, to become apart of the intricacies that made her life possible…”
Shanyn, www.chickloveslit.com
“I have a feeling that if Inara Scott keeps writing these books at this pace, they will be a new breed of the Vampire Academy series…I really loved The Candidates. I loved the intrigue, the mystery, the romance, the action.”
Debbie, www.debbiesworldofbooks.com
“The action just gets started in this book and leaves you wanting more. You have cars crashing, sink holes opening, invisible walls and more. I did not want to put this one down.”
